About CIHI 

Canadian International Health Institute was registered by  the Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities under Private Carrer College Act 2005 on October 17, 2007. The Institute became member of the Ontario Association of Career Colleges  and  National Association of Career Colleges on December 2007.

The owner conceived the school in the summer of 2007.  She was a Registered Nurse in the Philippines working in the Public Health sector for 13 years as Chief Public Health Nurse. She migrated in Canada in 1991 and passed the board exam of the College of Nurses of Ontario. She work in different hospitals in Toronto but she chooses to stay in  Long Term Care . Her career life in Canada was mostly spent  in the Long Term care. She have been in Long Term Care now for over  16 years. She has become Director of Care in the Long Term Care. Knowing the needs of elderly in Canada she designed a curriculum that will train Personal Support Worker, to provide care to the elderly that reflects a holistic, coordinated and integrated approach to the provision of care required by the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Program and Services Standards, Residents Bill of Rights and the principles of individualized care.

The Personal Support Worker Program is a 6 months ( 640 hours) program. It includes in- class lectures, return demonstartion , group work, assignments and On the job Training. It is compose of  14 Modules. Admission requirements  in the Personal Support Workers Program includes, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent, be at least 18 years old, pass the Superintendent’s approved qualifying test, meet other academic qualification established as a condition of the Superintendent’s approval of the program and have met all additional admission requirements established by the private career college of the program.
The students came from different group diversities. They were landed immigrants who wants to change their career, caregivers , and those who are currently working in the health care sectors who wants to upgrade to Personal Support Worker Diploma.  

     
Successful graduates of the school presently were already hired by the facilities were they went for Practicum.
The faculties are composed of 2 Registered Nurses with 30 and 18 years of experienced in the Acute Care and Long Term care sectors, both with experience as a Director of Care in the Long Term Care,  1 Regitered Physiotherapist with Masters Degree in Physiotherapy and experienced teacher in the medical school. Faculties of the school have experiences to share to the students with a deep fashion to teach.

Canadian International Health Institute is connected to Yorkview Lifecare Center, Bakers Center Foundation, Villa Leonardo Gambin, Extendicare Bayview, Sage Care , Kensington Place Retirement Home.

Aside from PSW, the school offer also Advanced standing to Nurses, midwives, Physiotherapist, etc. who graduated from foreign countries. We also offer Review Class for RN and RPN who wants to take board exam here in Ontario. We also offer seminar for Long term Care, Palliative Care, Alzheimer’s Disease, Abuse, CPR, Computer Training, Career Management and Food Handler’s Certificate.
